Level Break Count Indicator - occasional issue in FXCM
Hi All,
I've noticed an occasional issue with the CDX Level Break Count Oscillator - at least in FXCM - where doji candles (i.e., candles with an identical open and close price) throw off the break count. For some reason, in FXCM, doji candles are always colored as bullish from what I've seen, which causes an issue with the oscillator count when a doji candle (or two or more consecutive doji candles) has a bearish candle to the immediate left and right of it. The Level Break Count Oscillator, seeing the doji candle as bullish and the immediate surrounding candles as bearish, counts this scenario as a level break; but I don't believe a doji candle should reflect as a level to potentially be broken and should essentially "vanish" from a series of candles for purposes of the level-break-count calculation.
It seems the Level Break Oscillator is calculating its break counts based on the candles being colored as bullish or bearish, but perhaps, at least in the case of doji candles, it would be more accurate to factor in the open and close price of the candle, and if the open and close price are the same, it should be disregarded from the count calculation as a level to potentially be broken.
Any thoughts?
